The Transition Program is for young people who are graduating from elementary school or starting high school. These kids are struggling to adapt at this time of tremendous personal transition or are facing personal and social issues (ADHD-H, mood disorders, difficulties connecting with others, etc.).

The Transition Program prevents at-risk young people from dropping out of school by preparing them for a smoother passage from elementary to high school.

  • Increase each participant’s understanding of issues affecting them (stress management, work planning, substance abuse, etc.)
  • Maintain or develop an academic motivation
  • Develop a sense of belonging to a group
  • Develop independence

The Transition program is…

A family atmosphere, a warm welcome and the smell of freshly-baked muffins after school!
Playtime to let loose with great facilitators
A self-help group to assist with homework (ratio of one facilitator for 4 students)
Tips and tricks to learn how to be a student
Information dealing with various issues (bullying, depression, addictions, respect for differences, etc.)
New friends
Arts and crafts workshops to experience success and discover your talents (science, jewellery, tinted glass, etc.)
An attentive ear from a professional counselor, as needed
A helping hand for parents to assist their children
Family celebrations and special events (Halloween, pedagogical days, end-of-year Olympiads, etc.).

And above all…

encouragement throughout the year!
